Volkanovski, who won his featherweight title in December of 2019 against Max Holloway, is making his second title defense against Ortega, who is the third-ranked fighter in the division according to UFC.com. Ortega was previously named the 2017 Breakthrough Fighter of the Year at the World MMA Awards and won his most recent fight against Chan Sung Jang by unanimous decision in Oct. 2020. 

The two fighters will headline a main card that features women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko vs. Lauren Murphy, welterweights Nick Diaz vs. Robbie Lawler, heavyweights Curtis Blaydes vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik and flyweights Jessica Andrade vs. Cynthia Calvillo.
