MORE: Updated NFL playoff picture for Week 15
Tennessee is comfortably ahead in the AFC South lead despite a three-game losing streak. While a playoff spot isn’t locked up just yet, this game will be more about the Titans trying to fix what’s gone wrong recently than fighting tooth and nail for their playoff lives.
The Chargers, on the other hand, are on the outside looking in with four games remaining. They picked up a critical win over the Dolphins in Week 14, but they’re in a battle with the Patriots and Jets for one of the AFC’s final playoff spots. A loss to Tennessee would be a major setback in Justin Herbert’s efforts to reach the playoffs for the first time.
Herbert is coming off a statement performance against Miami and should give the Chargers the offensive advantage over the Titans. Tennessee’s calling card for most of the season has been its defense, but the unit has struggled mightily against the Eagles and Jaguars in recent weeks.
If the Titans can’t figure out what went wrong against Trevor Lawrence last week, Herbert could be in for big day.
