LIVE: Follow Bills vs. Patriots updates from Week 18

Buffalo is set to retake the field on Sunday after its Week 17 “Monday Night Football” game in Cincinnati was suspended nine minutes into the first quarter when Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest on the field. As encouraging updates on Hamlin’s health have developed, some normalcy was restored in Buffalo when the Bills returned to practice midweek in preparation for Sunday’s game against their divisional foe.

Due to the eventual cancellation of Monday’s game, Buffalo entered Week 18 with a 12-3 record. It needed the Chiefs to lose Saturday to have a shot at the AFC’s top seed, but Kansas City defeated Las Vegas to sew up the top spot.

The game is a win-and-you’re-in situation for New England. Recent history suggests that it won’t be easy.

From 2000-19 the Patriots were 35-5 against the Bills, but Buffalo has won five of its last six meetings with New England, including a 47-17 trouncing in the wild-card round of last season’s playoffs. In the teams’ most recent meeting, the Bills earned a 24-10 road victory on “Thursday Night Football.”
