Fourteen drivers have locked up spots with wins, and while Kurt Busch had secured a 15th spot, he will not race in the playoffs because of a concussion. Ryan Blaney and Martin Truex Jr. are the only two drivers who can reach the playoffs based on points, but if a new driver earns a win at Daytona International Speedway, then tiebreakers could decide which of the two would head to the playoffs.
Blaney has to be coming into the race with some confidence. He was the winner of the 2021 Coke Zero Sugar 400. Truex has never won the race, although he has finished second three times.
