LIVE: Follow Michigan vs. TCU in College Football Playoff semifinals

Michigan hasn’t played for a national championship since 1997. TCU has played in prominent bowls over the years but has never gotten the chance to play for a national title. The drought will end for the winner of this game.

Michigan, undefeated champion of the Big Ten, is hoping to slow down TCU’s offense with the same defense that kept Ohio State in check in Columbus.

The Wolverines’ bruising running game remains the heartbeat of the offense, even without the injured Blake Corum. The biggest wild card may be quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who looked tremendous against Ohio State but will go toe-to-toe with Heisman Trophy runner-up Max Duggan.

Duggan made gigantic strides as a passer this season while also keeping defenses on their toes with his rushing ability. The Horned Frogs also have two legitimate NFL prospects surrounding Duggan in running back Kendre Miller and wide receiver Quentin Johnston, so the Horned Frogs could present the Wolverines a challenge they didn’t often encounter in the Big Ten.

Jim Harbaugh, one year after a blowout loss to Georgia in the CFP semifinal, is looking to take the next step toward a national championship, while Sonny Dykes is aiming to do the improbable and play for a title in his first season at TCU.
