LIVE: Follow SN’s updates from Michigan vs. Ohio State
No. 2 Ohio State will play host to No. 3 Michigan in “The Game” — the first one since 2006 in which both teams are undefeated. This year’s competition has implications not only on the Big Ten championship, but also the College Football Playoff.
The winner of Saturday’s game will earn the right to compete for the Big Ten championship as well as a berth in the CFP. The loser will finish the season with a devastating defeat, simultaneously dashing any chances of a Big Ten championship or Playoff berth.
So, no pressure.
The Buckeyes enter this game after suffering a defeat at Michigan in 2021, the team’s first loss in this rivalry since 2011. The loss ended their chances of making the Playoff and catapulted the Wolverines to a Big Ten championship. No doubt C.J. Stroud, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Co. will look to return the favor at home in 2022.
Conversely, J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum and a vicious Wolverines defense will look to win their first game in Columbus since 2000. History favors the Buckeyes, but trends never truly matter in rivalry games.
