Live updates, highlights from Jaguars-Jets ‘TNF’ game
The Jets’ Zach Wilson has been the worst of the quarterbacks taken in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Wilson hasn’t done much of anything to solidify his standing as an NFL-level starting quarterback, but the injury to Mike White put the team behind the 8-ball — and Wilson potentially in control of his NFL destiny if he plays well the remainder of the season.
Across the field, the Jets will be staring at Trevor Lawrence, a player who they were a pick away from taking in 2021. While Lawrence didn’t show much of anything in his rookie season, his Year 2 ascent has been legitimate, and it directly coincides with how well Jacksonville has been playing of late. The Jags are 4-2 since the start of November, and their turnaround has given them an outside shot at making the playoffs.
Should that happen, then Jacksonville can thank its lucky stars that Lawrence landed with them. And if the Jets continue their slide, then they can thank Wilson’s middling returns for continuing their playoff drought.
