Yet while Houston has floundered, New York has excelled. The Giants are 6-2 and on pace for the playoffs. Daniel Jones is balling. Saquon Barkley is healthy. Life is good.

The Texans, on the other hand, are in the midst of another underwhelming season. Houston has won just once and looks destined for yet another top-five draft pick. In a year of few positives, one has been the play of running back Dameon Pierce. A fourth-round pick out of Wisconsin in 2022, Pierce is averaging nearly 5 yards per carry and has been a constant threat in an offense that is more dour than dominant.

Sunday’s game doesn’t carry a lot of intrigue on paper, but on any given Sunday, something shocking could happen. Houston kept things interesting against the undefeated Eagles last week. Perhaps it can do one better this week and deliver a shock to New York’s system.
