Following the NFL’s announcement that Watson would be suspended for 11 games in 2022, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Watson would not play in the team’s second preseason game. He remains eligible to play in the team’s third game.
Instead, Browns fans will get a glimpse of what the first 11 games will look like as Jacoby Brissett will take the field against Jalen Hurts and the Eagles.

Brissett did not play in the preseason opener, while Watson, Joshua Dobbs and Josh Rosen took the snaps under center.
Hurts did, however, play in the first preseason game, and he looked sharp in the matchup against the Jets. He completed all six passes for 80 yards with a touchdown before giving way to Gardner Minshew and Reid Sinnett for the rest of the game.
