Ole Miss (8-1) enters the final stretch of its season with only one loss on the year, to LSU. That sets up the Rebels to compete for both the SEC championship and College Football Playoff (assuming, of course, the Tigers lose one of their final three games). But none of that will matter unless Lane Kiffin and Co. can beat an Alabama team in a historically dangerous position for its opponents.
Like Ole Miss, the Crimson Tide lost their matchup to LSU, falling 32-31 in overtime at Tiger Stadium. The loss drops Nick Saban’s team to 7-2 and well out of the Playoff conversation. The Tide more than likely will not compete for the SEC West, needing LSU to lose two of its next three games just to make it to Atlanta.

However, Alabama has not lost consecutive games since the 2013 season, when it lost to No. 4 Auburn in the “Kick-Six” game before falling to No. 11 Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl. The Tide haven’t lost back-to-back regular-season games since Saban’s first season in 2007, when they lost four straight in the month of November.

It remains to be seen how Saturday’s game between Alabama and Ole Miss plays out. The Tide gave up an average of 42 points per game in its losses to Tennessee and LSU this season, but both losses were by an average of two points.
Ole Miss, meanwhile, has struggled in its last two games, giving up a 17-3 loss to LSU in a 45-20 loss; the Rebels weren’t overly impressive the following week, losing 31-28 against a reeling Texas A&M team that needs to win its last three games just to gain bowl eligibility.
With that, The Sporting News looks at how to watch Alabama-Ole Miss in an impactful SEC West showdown:
