But after the Cardinals upended the favored Braves, and the Nationals stunned the Dodgers, the National League is assured an underdog representative in the World Series. On paper, at least, it is difficult to project whether St. Louis or Washington will be that team. The Cardinals have a better organizational track record of playoff success and a tough lineup, but the Nationals carry a better starting rotation and are buzzing after their dramatic NLDS Game 5 victory in Los Angeles to send them to this stage....

Chinese Taipei, representing the Asia-Pacific region, will take on Curacao, representing the Caribbean, for a chance to play the winner of the U.S. final between Hawaii (West) and Tennessee (Southeast) in the LLWS final. The loser of this game will play the loser of the U.S. final for third place. Curacao is riding high after a sterling pitching performance from Jay-Dlynn Wiel, who threw a complete-game one-hitter in a 2-1 win over Mexico....

Neutral parties will likely hope this week’s meeting between No. 1 Clemson and No. 7 Miami in Clemson, S.C., is more competitive than last week’s last top-10 matchup, a 27-6 thrashing by No. 4 Georgia of No. 7 Auburn. History, however, clearly favors the Tigers in this ACC-themed “College GameDay” game of the week. The Tigers are not only riding a 24-game ACC win streak into Saturday’s matchup, but also outscored Miami 96-3 in their last two matchups....

Duke (11-8, 9-6 ACC) will look to avenge its earlier loss to North Carolina (14-8, 8-5 ACC) earlier this season in a game that somehow takes on even greater importance as both teams attempt to shore up their March Madness credentials. As incredible as it sounds, a win could go a long way in helping secure a berth in the NCAA Tournament. A loss could all but end that run....

Last time Formula 1 drivers were on the grid, Max Verstappen locked up his second world drivers championship, leaving the remaining four races on the docket somewhat intrigue-free. Still, the second-place race remains something to watch as the season winds down. Sergio Perez (253 points), Charles Leclerc (252), George Russell (207) and Carlos Sainz (202) are all vying for the No. 2 spot in the standings. After a few weeks off, the series heads to the United States, where the track this weekend hasn’t had a repeat winner since Lewis Hamilton posted four straight victories from 2014-17....

Though the 2020 F1 season is playing out with a modified schedule, the TV channels for all races in the United States are the same, as ESPN and ESPN2 will broadcast Sky Sports’ presentation of each Formula 1 race. Sunday’s race at the Red Bull Ring is the second of an Austrian doubleheader to begin F1’s condensed 2020 schedule, as the 4.318-kilometer track hosted last week’s F1 season-opening Austrian Grand Prix....

Jim Harbaugh and his team will welcome the Army Black Knights to Michigan Stadium on Saturday for a clash at noon ET. The Black Knights currently own one of the longest winning streaks in college football, having won each of their past 10 games, the second-longest active FBS streak behind only Clemson. Army, of course, brings a unique style of offense to the game that teams like Michigan have not faced often....

Two of those competitors, Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski, have appeared in the Championship 4 before and won. Denny Hamlin has fallen short on four occasions. And Chase Elliott has never advanced this far in a season. Kevin Harvick is notably no longer in contention, having been eliminated last weekend at Martinsville. The NFL Network will be back to hosting the 2022 NFL Combine, the second time the event will be held as a made-for-TV program that will feature every workout being televised on the league’s own channel. The workouts will be held each day from Thursday, March 3, through Sunday, March 6, with different position groups having their on-field workouts and measurements on separate days. The times for each will start in the late afternoon in Indianapolis — except Sunday — and run through the evening, giving fans the chance to watch the events late into the day....

The No. 19 Gamecocks ended College Football Playoff hopes for both No. 5 Tennessee and No. 8 Clemson, eliminating them with 63-38 and 31-30 defeats. Spencer Rattler tore the two teams apart, combining to complete 55-of-76 passes for eight touchdown passes and two interceptions. South Carolina will wrap up its season in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, when the Gamecocks face off against No. 21 Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish lost their first two games of the season to Ohio State and Marshall, but rebounded to win eight of their next nine games before dropping the season finale to USC....

The Bills are coming off of their biggest comeback win since 2011 last week against the Ravens. They trailed 20-3 late in the first half before storming back to win 23-20 on a soggy afternoon in Baltimore. Allen bounced back from a rough start to finish with 283 total yards and 2 touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) to offset 1 interception. It was an important victory for Buffalo after dropping a close game to Miami in Week 3, in which Allen threw for 400 yards but couldn’t find the end zone in the second half....

Originally the third major and scheduled for June 18-21, the U.S. Open is taking place this weekend at Winged Foot Golf Club in New York. While spectators won’t be able to attend this year’s event, there will be plenty of television coverage thanks to NBC, Golf Channel and Peacock. The favorite entering the U.S. Open is Dustin Johnson who is fresh off winning the FedEx Cup and has finished in the top two in each of the last four tournaments he participated in....

Sweden and the USWNT have already qualified for the Round of 16 having won their previous two matches against both Thailand and Chile. The Americans are in perfect position to win Group F on a plus-16 goal differential, having put 13 past Thailand and three against Chile.
